Chinatown Station: Lighting Design Strategy

Underground spaces are for many people instinctively stressful and unpleasant.  To create a safe and pleasant environment, indirect lighting and wall washing is used to make the space feel more airy and open.  The throw distance varies from 10′ to 100′, so we recommended LED fixtures that have many options for beam angle and wattage.  That way, there is a uniform appearance and simplified maintenance even though there are over a dozen location-specific configurations.
